My works are exhibited on view at special exhibition" Convergence and Transcendence, GICB, Gyeonggi International Ceramics Biennale" at Icheon World Ceramics Center in Korea. The installation cosisting of six pieces 2005-2014. Please visit the biennale if you are in Korea!

Convergence and Transcendence
The environment of ceramics today is rapidly changing. It is characterized by fusion of media, proliferation of public art, and expansion of genres of contemporary art. Recognizing that now is indeed time for us to ask what ceramics really is and what are its characteristics, the special exhibition Gathering and Diffusion in Icheon intends to seek and suggest the possibilities for contemporary ceramics. Through an exhibit showing the experimentation and challenging spirit of artists from both at home and abroad, this exhibition finds its meaning in extending the inside and outside of ceramic art and establishing a base of ceramics for the future.

Exhibit: Possession
Possession includes internationally renowned artists, including David LaChapelle, Katsuyo Aoki, Erik Park and AVAF, who re-purpose and re-theorize past aesthetic traditions as they address contemporary pop life, fantasy and morality. Referencing Rococo beauty and surface, the artworks in this exhibition reference themes of youthful frivolity, artifice and pleasure, while delighting the eye and mind. What lies beneath the glimmering surfaces of these artworks, however, is powerful content that asks contemporary viewers to consider big questions about life and death, purpose, values and what comes next. An artist reception will be held at 5 to 7 p.m. April 24.

Press Release

The Galerie Handwerk by the "Handwerkskammer of München und Oberbayern" presents in the autumn 2013 as fifth guest show the exhibition "In Dialogue with the Baroque". This project is presented in co-operation with the "Bayerische Verwaltung der staatlichen Schlösser, Gärten und Seen". The curved line and its counter swing are a basic formal principle of the ornament of the Baroque and the Rococo – two époques of the history of art closely connected with Bavaria. The dynamic curves of these époques are today of great interest in the arts and crafts and are varied for different reasons.

The exhibition "In Dialogue with the Baroque" is presented in the Neues Schloss Schleißheim. The idea of the dialogue becomes most clear by the context of the palace. The works by international artists and craftsmen can be compared directly with interiors and objects from the 18th century. The vis-à-vis shows the contemporary appeal of the historic styles and the richness of association of the formal language of the Baroque, its fantasy, and the beauty of its art of decoration as well as the continuation of baroque subjects like the pastoral and the still life. The feast for the eyes finds its ongoing sequel.

The exhibition is supported by the consulate general of the Netherlands, Munich and by the Neue Sammlung – The International Design Museum Munich

Here are the most exciting developments in sculpture across the globe since the mid-1990s. Identifying the key trends, Anna Moszynska discusses the artists who are forging new paths and setting the contemporary agenda. She examines major shifts that have taken place in the last two decades, including the move from a concern with the discrete object to the more complicated and dynamic relationships found in installation-based practice, as well as the increased concern with the experiential nature of sculpture and the participatory role of the viewer.

The world’s most promising new talent is discussed alongside established contemporary artists including Cai Guo-Qiang, Maurizio Cattelan, Jake and Dinos Chapman, Isa Genzken, Thomas Hirschhorn, Mike Kelley, Christian Marclay, Bruce Nauman, Gabriel Orozco, Doris Salcedo, James Turrell, and Ai Weiwei.

Museum of Fine Arts, Houston

Katsuyo Aoki's six pieces installation will be shown at MFAH
Mar 4, 2012 - Jun 3, 2012
Beck Building, Ground Floor
5601 Main Street

About the exhibition
New York-based scholars and gallerists Garth Clark and Mark Del Vecchio have been leaders in the ceramics field for three decades, assembling one of the most important private collections of contemporary ceramics in the world. In 2007, the MFAH acquired the Garth Clark and Mark Del Vecchio Collection of some 475 artworks, as well as the accompanying library and artist archive.
Shifting Paradigms presents nearly 160 objects—ceramics and works on paper—from this richly diverse collection, which includes major international figures such as Kenjiro Kawai, Jean-Pierre Laroque, Adrian Saxe, Peter Voulkos, and Beatrice Wood, many of whom are represented in depth, as well as examples by Anthony Caro, Lucio Fontana, Claes Oldenburg, and Grayson Perry.
The exhibition is accompanied by an illustrated catalogue, copublished by the MFAH and Yale University Press.

This exhibition is organized by the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.

The idea of this exhibition “TANAGOKORO (means 'hand' or 'palm')” is from the serial essay on the art magazine “Geijutsu Shincho”, and which was edited into the book “Tanagokoro no BI (The aesthetic of the art in hand)” published in 1996, written by the late Iwao SETSU, whom was the founder of SETSU GATOH-DOH, the most noted antique shop in Nihonbashi (in east Tokyo).
The exhibition “TANAGOKORO” is based on the assumption that Japanese ourselves are probably the only people who play with small artworks by hands. To project this unique sense on contemporary art, it was launched in March 1997 at Roentgen Kunstraum in Aoyama in Tokyo (the previous gallery space of Roentgenwerke AG), being well-received, and afterwards developed into a serial exhibition.
